Sorry if this is on the wrong sub section... but at least I am not from Fort Calabria !!!!

We are planning to take outdoor wall lights, bought from B and Q and wondering if the wires that are sticking out the wall will be compatible with them.

Hi Mags,
The voltage in Italy is compatible with UK electrical items so the wires should be alright for connecting to your B&Q wall lights.

Thanks for that, David.

It's reassuring to know that they will be ok in Calabria and we can wire them ourselves without the expense of an electrician.

Don't forget Ikea is in southern Italy and no need to change plugs. Sometimes in the uk you find continental plugs on their stuff too
You have that big B Q style place in the new shopping centre near you. We go there sometimes big electrical, shoe shops etc and a McDonald's!!!

Do you mean the Du Mari centre on the road between Lamezia and Contanzaro (SS280)?

The centre that Ionian mentions is called Le Fontane it's near to Catanzaro Lido ss106

The diy store is Brico and there's a Decathlon, a huge supermarket, toys r us etc

Ionian, thanks. we did buy kitchen and bedroom furniture in Calabria but we wanted to take over as much as we could with Billy Cowie so have bought outdoor lights here.
It's trying to get the balance right. Buying in Calabria and also taking things over from here that are in some cases of much better value, quality and more to our taste than what we have seen in Calabria.

Billy Cowie comes vey highly recommended on the Forum, just hope that he gets all our stuff in his van mags

Diane

That's great to know.
Billy comes here on Thursday 5th July and I cannot imagine how all our stuff will fit in.
I also worry that the weight will be too much for his van.

I've said to Paul that we must have a plan if he says " NO WAY" what can we leave behind.

It must be a huge relief for you to know that all your things are on the way to Calabria.
Where are you moving your things to?
Are you going over soon to unpack and have a holiday?

I sent over everything for a one bedroomed apartment, and it all fitted in and was a little bit of room to spare. Bill is brilliant, you have no worries ragarding him and your stuff.
